Robert Nesta Marley, born February 6, 1945 – May 11, 1981 and better known as Bob Marley, was a Jamaican singer, guitarist, songwriter and activist. He was a celebrated reggae musician and popularised reggae outside of Jamaica for the first time. His songs deal with those who struggle with poverty and lack of power. He was devoted to the Rastafarin religion and inspired faith in many of the fans of his music. He died in 1981 of cancer but his music has continued to inspire people the world over. No Woman, No Cry, the second track on his 1974 release Natty Dread, is probably Marley’s best known recording. It is an ode to childhood, a time before adult relationships threaten friendships. The ballad has become a standard, and has been performed and recorded by numerous artists. Download a free midi file of No Woman No Cry by Bob Marley Filed under: Bob Marley |
