Suzanne Vega was born July 11, 1959, in Santa Monica. Inspired by artists such as Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan and Lou Reed, Suzanne played guitar, wrote songs and became part of the Greenwich Village folk club scene. She was signed and released her debut album Suzanne Vega in 1985. The album and the single Marlene on the Wall were successful , and the follow-up album Solitute Standing was a huge hit on both sides of the Atrlantic.
