Beautiful South was formed following the disbandment of the British indie pop group the Housemartins in 1989. Vocalist and songwriter Paul Heaton and drummer David Hemmingway were the founder members from the Housemartins and were joined by Sean Welch, Briana Corrigan, Dave Stead and Dave Rotheray. Briana Corrigan left the band in 1994 and was replaced by Jacqui Abbot who sang Don’t Marry Her and many of their other more recent hits.
