Elton John was born Reginald Kenneth Dwight in Pinner, England on March 25, 1947. In 1960, Reginald formed a band called the Corvettes with some of his friends. This band evolved and became Bluesology. By the mid-1960s, Bluesology was backing other artists such as the Isley Brothers, Major Lance, Doris Troy, and Patti LaBelle. Reginald left the band to pursue a solo career and answered an advertisement by Liberty Records. It was here that he made contact with Bernie Taupin and began writing music to Bernie’s lyrics. Thus began a partnership that continues to this day. Reginald Dwight changed his name to Elton John, and is one of the most successful solo artists in music history. Rocket Man (I Think It’s Going To Be A Long, Long Time) was released in 1972 on the album Honky Chateau. Download a free midi file of Rocket Man by Elton John Filed under: Elton John |
