Singer-songwriter and multi-talented musician, Van Morrison was born George Ivan Morrison on 31st August 1945 in Belfast, Northern Ireland. He started his career as lead singer of the Irish band Them, writing their 1966 hit “Gloria”, then left a few years later to begin his immensely successful solo career. His career has spanned four decades and he has been a major musical influence on many artists. In 1989, Morrison released Avalon Sunset, which featured the ballad, “Have I Told You Lately” (also recorded by Rod Stewart). It was a critical and commercial success.
