British singer-songwriter Cat Stevens was born Stephen Demetre Georgiou in London on 21st July 21 1948. He sold 40 million albums, mostly in the 1960s and 1970s. He converted to Islam and changed his name to Yusuf Islam. Father & Son was one of his greatest hits - he re-recorded it with Ronan Keating in 2004 and the proceeds were donated to the Band Aid charity. American musician, singer, dancer, songwriter and record producer Michael Joseph Jackson was born on 29th August 29, 1958 in Gary, Indiana. He was the lead singer of The Jackson 5 with his siblings and made his first solo recordings in 1971. He has since become the most successful recording artist in Black music history. American singer-songwriter Carly Elizabeth Simon was born 25th June 1945 in New York City. She launched her solo career in 1971 with the self-titled album Carly Simon which contained the top-ten hit, “That’s the Way I’ve Always Heard It Should Be”, and was followed by the album, Anticipation. Carly Simon’s major breakthrough, though, was her 1972 albumNo Secrets. The album included several successful singles, including her biggest hit, “You’re So Vain”. The album Coming Around Again was released in 1987 and the single of the same name was her biggest hit of the eighties, being included in the film score of Heartburn.
