Erma Vernice Franklin was born on 13th March 1938 and died from cancer on 7th September 2002. She was an American soul singer and sister of Aretha Franklin. “Piece of My Heart” was her best-known single, and it was later covered in a different arrangement by Janis Joplin and Shaggy.
