“Fire & Rain” was a hit single for James Taylor, released from his Sweet Baby James album in 1970. The song was inspired by his time spent in a mental asylum and the suicide of a friend. American singer-songwriter and guitarist James Vernon Taylor was born on 12th March 1948 in Boston, Massachusetts. Taylor moved to London and was signed to Apple Records in 1968. He released his debut album James Taylor. Although the album wasn’t initially successful, the success of other singles in the seventies renewed interest and the album and the single “Carolina in My Mind” were propelled back into the charts.
